Installation on Windows

Full Installation

Full Installation is recommended if STE either has not been installed on this PC or there is an upgrade for the currently installed version exists.

Just download the installer from the main page and follow the instructions. STE should be installed into [Program Files]/Sintegrial/STE and create menu entry and (if has been chosen during installation process) the shortcut on the desktop.

No more actions required - all the necessary files and libraries are included into the installer.

Upgrade

If there is an upgrade for the currently installed version available then it's better to download Upgrade Installer as it will take less time.

It's important to specify the directory where the previous STE is installed (typically [Program Files]/Sintegrial/STE). The rest of upgrade process is automated.

Installation on Linux

Installation from the package

For particular Linux distributions the precompiled binary packages are available. Please check if there is a package for your Linux distro.

Installation process can be custom for different Linux distributions, so there are no detailed instructions here. The binary package DOES NOT contain any additionally required libraries, but only references to them. So it's possible that you will need to install or upgrade them separately.

Packages which are REQUIRED for running STE:

• Qt 4.6.0 or higher
• Qscintilla 2.4.3 or higher (statically linked with STE)
• iconv 1.9 or higher
• enca 1.13 or higher

Packages which are NOT required but can be used:

• Uncrustify 0.55 or higher (statically linked with STE)
• Artistic Style 1.24 or higher
• CSS Tidy
• HTML Tidy

If one or some of these packages are not available in the repositories of your Linux distro, or only older versions are present, it's recommended to upgrade them from the corresponding official sites.
